Featured Artist: Natalie Miller
We are excited to share a new Featured Artist Series of fiber artists from the past and present. Check back twice a month to learn about the work that is inspiring the makers of the Modern Macramé studio and those of our fellow community.
The fiber art of Natalie Miller is bold, playful, and bright! Rarely monotone, her palettes incorporate a spectrum of colors ranging from pinks like deep fuchsia to all the reds, yellows, and chartreuse. As a weaver and macrame artist, Miller travels from her home in Australia to around the world sharing her passion for the fiber arts through teaching workshops.
Knots are not her full-time gig, however. This artist is an architect by day, and shares her studio with two other artists, offering her work perspective and constant inspiration. Miller thrives on staying true to her artistic vision and exploring her personal passions, setting the tone for others to follow by going on their own unique paths.
We admire her work for its use of patterning with at least a few colors within strong wall hangings that stylistically honor the past, and her fearless multi-dimensional installations.
Natalie Miller also holds the world record for making the largest macramé chandeliers. Here, she is shown working on the installation that was on display during Chinese New Year in Hong Kong.
We can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
