Emily Katz X Ace & Jig Earth Day Celebration
A special custom piece, three months in the making. Our founder, Emily Katz had her hands tied as she worked (with the help of many friends, including her mom!) on this 10X10 whimsical dream space tent.
And guess what? It’s made out of 100% recycled materials.
It’s common to toss the scraps and move on to your next project once you’re done but the founders of Ace & Jig along with Emily had something else in mind. Making art out of their cutting room floor fabric, and past macramé project scraps!
We used 100% recycled materials to make this piece that will be make it's debut this Sunday in New York City at Ace & Jig's Community Day as a part of their #aceandjigscrap series.
The tent all bundled up for transport.
Inspiration Behind The Tent
One of Ace & Jig's main initiatives as a brand is to be a zero waste company. They reuse as many fabric scraps as they can to use for other projects and collaborations. Here at Modern Macramé we have a scrap wall as well where we save pieces of rope that are long enough to use on different projects.
Needless to say when they reached out to Emily we were thrilled because it's always been a dream collab for us. They wanted a tent for their community event but they will also be using it for other events and activations to come.
The inspiration behind the tent made sense to use recycled macramé rope as it aligns with Ace & Jig's overall initiative. Emily started pulling pieces from the scrap wall and began piecing together color combos and textures that made sense and did the entire 10X10 tent free form.
