PROJECTS FROM OUR BOOK: Double Plant Hanger

Our Book features 33 Projects for your Handmade home, and in this weekly series, we are featuring each project from the book. You will learn a bit about the behind the scenes as well as the best materials to use to make your macrame projects.

Double Plant Hanger

The Double Plant Hanger is the second project in the book. When you are a plant lover like me, why not make a plant hanger for two pretty plant friends? So I decided that this simple design was a good way to elevate your favorite greenery double time. But remember, you can always use these hangers for other uses as well, such as fruit bowls and what else? The sky is the limit. Let us know if the comments below if you have made this project!

If you want to make one of your own, you will need:

1 brass ring

2 bundles of rope or cut from a spool

1 large bead. We used these handmade-for-us-in-Portland beads by local ceramicist Martina Thornhill.

Why not make them in a rainbow of colors!

Double plant hanger Copenhagen interior

We photographed this finished piece at the home of Natasha and Dan Husted in 2016. I have seen photos of this room now, and there is a wood burning stove in the place of these big plants. The Danes truly know how to embrace hygge. But I think the plant hanger looks pretty great here as well...:)
